Dallas Newborn Photographer | Baby Julia

As of this weekend we officially have a four year old in our house! I can’t believe it. I mean, how did that happen? The thing about having a baby in September is that you always find yourself coping with the fact that they’re a year older/bigger/more independent, while at the same time starting another year of school — it’s two rites of passage at the same time, and sensitive, sentimental moms like me are NOT cut out for this, y’all. But everything’s fine. It’s fine. I’m fine.

What is it that feels so hard about our babies growing up? As fun as it is to see them learning, growing and tackling those milestones, there’s also a tinge of sadness that they’re a little less under your wing and a little farther away from that tiny little baby you held in your arms. Parenting is a beautiful thing, but it’s also a rollercoaster of emotions.

A friend put it well, “It’s hard to see them grow up. But also fun.” As moms we hold the tension between that ache that our babies aren’t babies anymore and the joy of seeing them grow into who they were made to be. My hope is that I look back on the past with gratitude and humility, but always look to the future with a faith-filled expectation of the things God will do in their lives. Are you in the same boat? May we hold the tension with grace, my friend.

That’s why I chose to focus my business on motherhood, newborns and families — these are years and moments that we can’t get back, but we can always remember. And I’m so thankful that I get to help you remember.

I’m excited to share this sweet session with baby Julia today, the most happy, chill little lady. And how about this amazing DIY Pom Pom wall that her mom made for her? Can you believe that each one was handmade? I’m in love. Enjoy!
